Scientific seminar “ Energy and Environment” and Final workshop of the partnership’s management committee in Herat April 20, 2011


The final partnership’s management committee workshop was organized on April 20 at the Herat University in Afghanistan. The workshop was associated with a scientific seminar under the title of energy and environment. At this seminar were presented 13 lectures. The lectures were collected to an electronic publication on CD with ISBN. For viewing presented lectures click here.

The objective of this workshop was evaluation of the project’s activities and results. All project activities and achieved results were evaluated. The representatives of all partners have evaluated the project implementation as a very effective tool for improvement of quality of engineering education in Afghanistan. During the workshop the possibilities of further cooperation between the partners were discussed.

Environmental pollution in Afghanistan is one of the most important tasks that need immediate solution. Higher education and research in environmental fields create one of the basic pillars of environmental protection. The aim of the conference was to bring together academicians, researchers, people from industry, lawgivers and politics from Afghanistan and other countries working in the field of environmental protection to exchange experience and information. The conference aimed to support implementation of environmental education and enrichment of the Afghan universities’ curricula with modern components and trends in this field. The international conference, Modern Environmental Management and Technologies was held between April 16 and 19, 2011 in Kabul-Afghanistan by participation of 200 participants in scientific lectures and 1000 participants in opening ceremony. The head of Afghanistan’s National Agency for environmental protection Mostapha zaher, State secretary, Ministry of Higher education of Afghanistan, Dr. M. Osman Babori, Kabul municipal Mohammad Yonus Nawandesh, Representatives of Afghanistan parliament, Chancellors of Afghanistan major universities, representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Higher Education, Energy and Water and Economy, representative of different industrial , environmental and energy institutions, 17 participants from different universities from abroad, around 50 academics from other Afghan universities and, have participated the conference.

In Cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education of Afghanistan Strengthening Higher Education Program (SHEP)


The international conference, energy resources, distribution and saving was held between April 19 and 21, 2010 in Herat-Afghanistan by participation of 160 participants. Herat Province governor Dr. M. Yusuf Nurestani, State secretary, Ministry of Higher education of Afghanistan, Dr. M. Osman Babori, Representatives of Afghanistan parliament, Chancellors of Afghanistan major universities, representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Higher Education, Energy and Water and Economy, representative of different industrial , environmental and energy institutions, around 40 academics from other Afghan universities and from abroad, have participated the conference.

    The third partner management workshop - Vienna January 2010


    The third partner management workshop is planned to be held in January 2010. The workshop will be organized by Vienna University of Technology, Austria. The objective of the workshop is to evaluate implementation of the project, effectiveness and impact of short-term trainings, scientific seminars, conference, and study stays of Afghan university teachers and Master degree study of Afghan students in Slovakia, Thailand and Vienna and specification of activities in the third year of project implementation.

    In the framework of the workshop there will be a seminar organized with focus on university management, processes, financing and sustainable development of university education. The main objective of this specialized seminar is to share best practices and expertise among the partners and transfer of know-how to Afghan partner universities.

    Expected date of the workshop and seminar in Vienna is January 11 – 15, 2010.

    Euro-Asia Partnership for Development Human Resource Capacity of Engineering Education in Afghanistan


    In the framework of the project ‘Euro-Asia Partnership for Development Human Resource Capacity of Engineering Education in Afghanistan’ the first scientific conference was organized in Kabul, Afghanistan, between March 28 and April 1, 2009. The conference was focused on the field of Civil engineering and Architecture. It brought together Afghan students, academicians and business representative from Afghanistan, Europe, Asia and USA in order to exchange knowledge and know-how in academic curricula, current trends and modern approaches. In total, 124 academicians, students and business representatives participated on the conference and more than 100 students took part in specialized seminars.
