About the project
The overall project goal is the contribution to the improvement of engineering education in Afghanistan through building partnerships between European and Asian higher education institutions.
The Asia-Link Programme was launched as initiative of the European
Union to foster networking and cooperation at regional and international
level between higher education institutions within EU member states and Asia
countries. Asia is one of the key partners for the EU from the politics,
culture as well as economic point of view. Higher education and support to
research institutes were identified as two main priorities of EU-Asia
cooperation
NEW Academic Conference: Energy Resources, Distribution and Saving
The international conference, energy resources, distribution and saving was held between April 19 and 21, 2010 in Herat-Afghanistan by participation of 160 participants. Herat Province governor Dr. M. Yusuf Nurestani, State secretary, Ministry of Higher education of Afghanistan, Dr. M. Osman Babori, Representatives of Afghanistan parliament, Chancellors of Afghanistan major universities, representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Higher Education, Energy and Water and Economy, representative of different industrial , environmental and energy institutions, around 40 academics from other Afghan universities and from abroad, have participated the conference.

Project Objectives
- increasing education quality at the Kabul Polytechnic University and Technical Faculties of the Herat University;
- creating partnerships among the Afghan technical higher education institutions and their counterparts in European and Asian countries;
- increasing the qualification level of young teachers from the Afghan universities;
- improving knowledge and skills of Afghan university staff via short-time stays at the European and Asian universities;
- improving knowledge and skills of Afghan university staff by organizing seminars and conferences at Afghan universities;
- identifying potential for further cooperation in the areas such as teaching and research among European and Asian partners
