Euro-Asia Partnership for Development Human Resource Capacity of Engineering Education in Afghanistan
In Cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education of Afghanistan Strengthening Higher Education Program (SHEP) Conference will be held at Herat University in Afghanistan between April 18 and 21, 2010


 SCOPE OF THE CONFERENCE
    Higher engineering education and research are one of the basic pillars in building the human and social capital needed for economic development of Afghanistan. At the same time, they serve as important tools for promoting peace, stability, and social cohesion. Development of Energy Engineering is one of the most important prerequisites for the economic development and energy security of a country.
    The aim of the conference is to bring together academicians, researchers and people from industry from Afghanistan and other countries, working in the field of Energy Engineering to exchange experience, best practices and information. The conference aims to support implementation of Energy Engineering education and to enrich the curricula of the Afghan universities with modern components and trends in this field.

  • Education in Energy Engineering at European and American Universities (teaching methods, modern technical tools used in the teaching process, standard American and European University curricula and their comparison with Afghan curricula)
  • Open Discussion Forum – possibilities of international cooperation of Afghan universities with European and other universities, modernizing of the teaching curricula at Afghan universities, etc.
  • Seminars for students and other interested people – transfer of knowledge and information, modern technologies in Energy Engineering.

    Registration of contributions (lectures) January 15, 2010
    Submission of abstracts and full texts February 28, 2010
    Registration of participants without contributions February 28, 2010
    Conference scientific program distribution March 31, 2010

    Academicians, university teachers, researches, graduates as well as business representatives from the field of Energy Engineering are encouraged to apply and register their lectures. Potential lecturers should fill the attached application form and send it latest by January 15, 2010 to the conference organizing committee via e-mail or fax, or using online registration at www.afgasialink.eu. Other conference participants should register before February 28, 2010.
    Conference registration fee of all participants is covered by the Asia-Link Program of the European Commission, Project Nr. 147-063, Euro-Asia Partnership for Development Human Resource Capacity of Engineering Education. The project covers also expenses for accommodation and food of invited lecturers from abroad. The travel, accommodation and per-diem costs of active participants from Afghan universities outside the Herat University will be covered by the SHEP project (ministry of higher education of Afghanistan). Please note that the registration of all participants is mandatory. The organizers could claim for the cost incurred, if the participant is registered and does not participate.
