SCOPE OF THE CONFERENCE
Environmental pollution in Afghanistan is one of the most important tasks that need immediate solution. Higher education and research in environmental fields create one of the basic pillars of environmental protection.
The aim of the conference is to bring together academicians, researchers, people from industry, lawgivers and politics from Afghanistan and other countries working in the field of environmental protection to exchange experience and information. The conference aims to support implementation of environmental education and enrichment of the Afghan universities’ curricula with modern components and trends in this field.
MAIN TOPICS OF THE CONFERENCE
- Environmental technologies providing concrete solutions for protection of environment in Afghanistan conditions, waste management, reduction of emissions, waste water treatment, land protection.
- Current situation of environment in Afghanistan, Environmental policy and country strategy for environmental protection
- Sources of environmental pollutions, methods of their monitoring and reduction
- Environmental education at European and American Universities (teaching methods, modern technical tools used in the teaching process, standard American and European University curricula and their comparison with Afghan curricula)
- Open Discussion Forum – possibilities of national and international cooperation in the field of environmental protection, education and research. Discussion and approving of conference resolution.
- Seminars for students and other interested people – transfer of knowledge and information, modern technologies in environmental engineering

Academicians, university teachers, researchers, graduates as well as business representatives, lawgivers, and other interested people in environmental problems are encouraged to apply and register their lectures. Potential lecturers should fill the application form available online at www.afgasialink.eu and submit until January 15, 2011. Other conference participants should register before March 15, 2011.
Conference registration fee of all participants is covered by the Asia-Link Program of the European Commission, Project Nr. 147-063, Euro-Asia Partnership for Development Human Resource Capacity of Engineering Education. The conference organizers cover also expenses for accommodation and food of invited lecturers from abroad. The travel, accommodation and per-diem costs of selected participants from Afghan universities outside the Kabul will be covered by the Ministry of higher education of Afghanistan. Please note that the registration of all participants is preliminary the cost of expenses will be covered only based on official invitation sent by conference organizers.
Participants will be provided with conference materials (conference proceedings, CD). Social event will be organized for all participants on April 18, 2011.
